How to make Khanom Krok

Ingredients for Khanom Krok flour

  • 1+1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1/3 cup cooked rice
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt.
  • 1/4 cup lime water
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

Ingredients for coconut milk topping, Khanom Krok

  • 3/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt.
  • 1/2 tablespoon rice flour

Ingredients for khanom krok topping

  • Sliced spring onions
  • Small diced taro.
  • Corn kernels
  • Vegetable oil (for greasing the khanom krok holes)

How to make Khanom Krok

  1. Make Khanom Krok flour by taking rice flour, cooked rice, granulated sugar, sea salt, lime water, coconut milk, and coconut milk and blending them with a blender until fine and uniform. Pour into a container and set aside for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Make coconut milk topping by mixing coconut milk, sugar, and sea salt together. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Slowly add the rice flour. Stir to mix well. Set aside.
  3. Bring the Khanom Krok bao to the fire. Use medium heat when it's hot. Apply oil all over the well and scoop the dough into about 3/4 of the hole. Once the dough begins to set, Spoon the coconut milk mixture over top until completely covered. Close the lid and wait for the dough to start cooking.
  4. Open the lid and sprinkle with taro, corn and sliced green onions. When the dessert is cooked, use a spoon to lift the dessert out of the socket, place on a plate and ready to serve.
