A simple recipe for making “Larb Moo” (Spicy Minced Pork Salad)

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams minced pork
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 3 tablespoons ground roasted rice
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced shallots
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Mint leaves for garnish
  • Fresh vegetables (cucumber, cabbage, lettuce) for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced pork and cook until fully cooked and slightly crispy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked minced pork, ground roasted rice, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chili powder. Mix well.
  3. Add the thinly sliced shallots, chopped green onions, and chopped cilantro to the mixture. Toss everything together until well combined.
  4. Taste the larb and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add more fish sauce, lime juice, or chili powder according to your preference.
  5. Serve the larb moo on a platter or individual plates, garnished with mint leaves. It is traditionally served with fresh vegetables like cucumber, cabbage, or lettuce on the side.
