Here’s a simple recipe for making Thai Basil Pork Stir-Fry (ผัดกระเพราหมูสับ)
Ingredients:
- 200 grams ground pork
- 2 cups holy basil leaves (or Thai basil leaves)
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3-5 bird’s eye chilies, chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Steamed jasmine rice for serving
Instructions:
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped bird’s eye chilies to the pan. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground pork to the pan. Break it apart and cook until it’s no longer pink.
- In a small bowl, mix together oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked pork. Stir well to combine.
- Add holy basil leaves to the pan. Stir-fry until the basil leaves are wilted and well combined with the pork. This should only take a minute or two.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you prefer it spicier or saltier, you can add more chilies or fish sauce.
- Once everything is well combined and the basil is wilted, remove the pan from heat.
- Serve the basil pork stir-fry over steamed jasmine rice.
